What "survival mode" means

Survival mode is the everyday name for living in a constant state of bracing: pushing through, staying alert for the next demand, and postponing your own needs until "things calm down." It often looks like strength from the outside. Inside, it can feel like exhaustion that sleep doesn't fix, numbness, irritability, and a quiet sense of disconnection from who you are.
